As the Bacterial Plant Diseases Programme draws to a close we invite you to join us for two online round table events to discuss research findings which have policy implications. Each session will begin with short primers from our researchers and provocations from a stakeholder representative. Then there will be an opportunity to discuss the issues in breakout groups before closing with an interactive future-oriented survey.
The sessions will be online and chaired by Mariella Marzano and Laura Meagher.
You are welcome to attend one or both sessions. If you would like to attend please email [email protected]
2.00-3.00pm: Novel Biocontrol
Several of our projects have been researching promising biocontrol techniques including phages, bacteriocins and microbiome modification. How effective are they likely to be? What are the potential ecological consequences of selectively applying certain microbes? Are any new protocols or legislation required for these methods?
3.15-4.15pm: Monitoring and Diagnostics
This session is an opportunity to discuss research relating to biosecurity. What are the emerging threats? Can the latest research help inform current disease monitoring programmes? How could new genetic information on pathogens or vectors be used to develop improved diagnosis or monitoring?
