Odes 2 Oaks
What do oak trees mean to you? Can you imagine a world without them?
Unfortunately our iconic oak trees face several threats from pests and diseases including Acute Oak Decline. Unchecked these threats could mean a future without oak trees in our streets, parks and countryside. We think that our oak trees are too valuable to be lost so our researchers are working hard to find ways to prevent and treat these diseases. Our oak trees need your help too!
What you can do
Can you help us tell the story of why oaks are so valuable? Can you share what oaks mean to you? The BAC-STOP project are inviting everyone who loves oaks to submit an Ode 2 Oaks.
You can submit an ode or tribute to oaks in many different forms. For example;
- A photograph
- A drawing or painting
- A song
- A story
- A poem
- An object made of oak
- A heartfelt message explaning how oaks make you feel or why oaks are so important to you and society
- Or anything else you can think of…
What’s in it for you
By participating you’re not only helping to protect Britain’s oak trees, you’ll also have the chance to win a £25 gift voucher and you might see your contribution featured on our website and social media.
Submissions are being gathered via this Shortstack form. The closing date for submissions is 31 March 2022.
